Akron Public Schools Attendance Zone/School Building Search
Welcome to Akron Public Schools Attendance Zone/School Building Search. Use our interactive district map to locate your neighborhood school based on your home address. Prior to using the site you may need to install the Web browser plug-in Silverlight. Please go to www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx to acquire the latest version of the software.
School Search
Go to www.croppermap.com/akron (or click on the map to the right) to begin your search; the Akron Public Schools interactive map will automatically load once you have installed the Silverlight software.
In the upper-left-hand corner, you will see an "Enter Address Information" box. Enter your home street address and zip code, and click on the "Find" button to locate your attendance zone. An additional drop-down box will indicate which elementary, middle and high school are associated with that attendance zone; and there are links to each school's page at akronschools.com. Below that, you will also see the boundaries for the 2012-13 school year. There is also a legend in the lower-right section of the screen to indicate what school year the map covers. In addition, if you click on the first button in the upper-left section of the screen (Choose School Zones), you will get a choice of years for elementary, middle and high schools. Click on the "Clear" button to perform another search.
If you move your cursor about half-way down the page, along the left-hand side, you will see a "screened" navigation tool. The tool is used to zoom in and out as well as to pan in any direction on the map. If your mouse has a scroll wheel, the scroll wheel will also zoom the map in and out. If you click on the map and drag your mouse, you can pan the map in any direction.
Other buttons along the top-left-hand side of the map allow you to choose school zones, zoom to a school zone, identify school zones and buffer the map. On the upper-right-hand side of the map, you will find buttons to fit the map to your browser, design a printable map and get help.
