Akron Public Schools is committed to the development of a curriculum that sets high expectations and results in meaningful student learning. The purpose of the curriculum is to have a system that will ensure that students from teacher to teacher and school to school study the same core of significant learning at a particular instructional level. The goal of the curriculum is to strike a balance between a firm foundation in basic skills and preparing students to be problem-solvers, critical thinkers, appreciators of the fine arts and active participants in a global society.
