Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA):

ESEA provides federal funds for the operation of supplemental educational programs to eligible schools. Title I is one component of ESEA.

 

Obama Administration Sets Rules for NCLB Waivers. 

 

Highlights of the ESEA:

  • Schools are to use standards-based methods of teaching which have been proven effective through research
  • Teachers and instructional paraprofessionals must be highly qualified.
  • Schools and districts must demonstrate that all students are making adequate yearly progress (AYP).
  • Parents have the right to more information and choices concerning their children's education.
