In 2001, Congress passed the No Child Left Behind Act. Its purpose is to improve schools in which children have not done well on state tests. Akron Public Schools' students who attend a Title I school identified for improvement are eligible for FREE tutoring services from a company that has been approved by the Ohio Department of Education.
Free tutoring is available to students from low-income families who are enrolled in Title I schools in the second year of school improvement.
Parents may select a company and complete the application from the Tutoring Scholarship booklet OR from the Ohio Department of Education list of approved providers.

Contact your child's teacher, your school counselor or Alyse Clark in the Office of School Improvement if you have questions or want help in picking a tutoring company for your child.
