Mathematics Goals


  • articulate a solid core of knowledge that is relevant, coherent, and comprehensive for all learners.
  • set high expectations for each student every year; provide for the expansion of the curriculum for mathematically-talented learners; and implement timely and appropriate intervention for students.
  • implement a problem-solving, inquiry-based, hands-on approach to enable students to understand and use mathematics.
  • develop and emphasize written and oral explanations of mathematics concepts.
  • use technology resources to help all students understand mathematics and provide for natural uses of technology.
  • include continuous assessment to monitor, enhance, and evaluate the mathematics learning of all students and to inform teaching.
  • provide support to historically underserved populations to ensure full participation in the mathematics program.
