Our Mission

The Department of Facilities Services serves Akron Public Schools, students, staff and community through the scheduled maintenance of the physical facilities. These services support and enhance the academic and learning environment of the Akron Public Schools district.

Our mission statement was established to provide the necessary departmental commitment and support to the mission statement of our school system – TO PROVIDE LEARNING FOR ALL.

In support of this mission, Facilities Services is committed to:

• establish and maintain a safe, clean, attractive and effective physical environment for the Akron Public Schools community;
• provide services and support in a high-quality, cost-effective and timely manner for the maintenance and repair for all schools and support facilities;
• maintain facilities in order to provide an environment that is conducive to learning for all;
• demonstrate sound fiscal responsibility and management of budgetary resources;
• promote teamwork and cooperation among employees;
• emphasize clear and ongoing communication with our customers – the students, staff and community; and
• encourage an open and free environment for the exchange of ideas and suggestions for continuing quality improvement.
