Garfield's Swing to Kenmore QA

by Rene Garrett

Akron Public Schools city-wide rebuilding program is progressing as planned. In the next several years, all of our schools will become innovative community learning centers. Declining enrollment and budget shortfalls will require us to close/merge buildings at the end of the 2016-17 school year. Part of the commitment to our families is to provide safe learning centers. Garfield will be rebuilt to accommodate students from Garfield and Kenmore. This move will permit us to move forward with plans to build the new building while providing our students with an environment that is more conducive to teaching and learning. We are including a Q and A for you. This was used at a parents' meeting at Garfield on November 2, 2016, to help families understand the changes coming to their children's school.
