The Finance and Capital Management chair monitors to ensure that we are operating efficiently and responsibly, serves as a representative on the Board's Joint Board of Review, and monitors the Imagine Akron CLCs' Project.

The Community Relations and Customer Service chair monitors to ensure that we are engaging the public on issues facing Akron Public Schools and monitors to ensure that the parents, students and community members we serve receive the highest level of service and respect at all times.

Term to 12/31/15: Rev. Dr. Curtis T. Walker, Sr. was first elected effective January 2000 and is serving his fourth term. He is currently the Personnel and Staff Relations chair.

The Personnel and Staff Relations chair works with the Superintendent on his plan to reform the human resources department; monitors to ensure the recruitment, retention and development of high quality employees for Akron Public Schools; and acts as a liaison for the Board in all personnel matters.

The Legal and Board Policy Development chair monitors legal matters involving the Board in partnership with general counsel; brings all newly created, revised or updated board policies to the board; and assists other board members in creating new policies when called for.
