FirstEnergy Educational Advisory Council Member Application
FirstEnergy is looking for seven to ten (7-12) Ohio K-12 educators to serve a two-year academic term on its Educational Advisory Council beginning September 2012. The council members are educators who assist the company in selecting and evaluating educational resources and programs that are provided to schools and youth groups in communities served by the company's electric utility operating facilities. Stipends are available to members for reviewing materials, attending meetings and travel. The application deadline is Wednesday, May 23. Download the program description and the member application.

Save the date of June 20, 2012, for the "Transforming Urban Education – Urban Learners Matter" Summer Institute 2012, presented by the Center for Urban and Higher Education. The institute will be held at the Quaker Square Inn, 135 S. Broadway St., Akron, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The keynote speaker is Dr. Tyrone Howard, author of "Why Race and Culture Matter in Schools: Closing the Achievement Gap in America's Classrooms."
