May Festival took place at Firestone High School on May 7, 2013. The performances took place by elementary choir students, the Middle School Honors Choir, Firestone Jazz Band, Firestone and Kenmore Honors High School Choirs and the Visual and Performing Arts dance students. APS faculty, board members and students from all over the district competed in the 7th Annual Cardboard Canoe Competition on Tuesday, March 26. The cardboard canoes competition is the brainchild of Dan Spak, Firestone High School engineering teacher, and is part of the APS Career Education department. The competition, now in it's seventh year, combines all the STEM principles into a single challenge. For the students, it is a wonderful opportunity for them to put their classroom learning into practice. For the adults, it is a chance to have fun and pit their own skills against their kids' skills.
