The Akron Board of Education voted unanimously Monday, March 5, to close three APS elementary schools – Barrett, Essex and Rankin – at the end of the school year.
The decision will save APS an estimated $910,000, not including teachers' salaries, and represents the first of many major cuts to come.
Families and staff of those affected by the school closings are invited to learn more about their new home schools at the following Parent Information Nights:
