Akron Public Schools hosted the 62nd annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Expo last Saturday at North High School.

The expo drew more than 500 students participating in all kinds of projects and competitions, all in the name of science, of course.

APS had more than 20 interactive booths, the Miller South Walking Museum, the annual bridge-building competition, and the district-wide "The Big Race: Zipping to STEM" 3D car race, held in partnership with The University of Akron and the Soap Box Derby.

Comedian and entertainer Robert Post, creator of the program "How to Survive Middle School," did a special performance for the expo and stayed to enjoy the following exhibits:

  • Which Base Neutralizes the Best?
  • Fudge Crystallization
  • Manipulating Leaf Colors
