“It’s so vibrant and inviting here,” said Jennings principal Nicki Embly. “What a pleasure and honor it is to be the first middle school to have a new building.”

The new, three-story Jennings Community Learning Center opened December 3 and replaced the original building that was constructed in 1915. The modern look of the new building includes glass and masonry that was actually taken from the old building.

“The old building was filled with character and charm,” said Embly. “I’m excited to fill this new building with the same warm feeling and enjoy the added updates.”

North High School earned a spot in U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of America’s Best High Schools. The school earned a bronze ranking based on the principle that “a great high school must serve all its students well, not just those who are bound for college.” State proficiency standards were used as benchmarks for the rankings, as well as each school’s ability to prepare students for college-level work.
