News – Storyboard A Reflection of the
Community
On January 22, students at the Mason Community Learning Center will not only
experience the happiness that comes with a bright, new building, they will help
students halfway around the world feel the same joy.
Through the African Sky Project, students at Mason are giving back by raising
money to help build a new school for students in poverty-stricken Africa.

“Our new building is bright, beautiful and spacious,” said principal Stephanie
Churn. “We want to show our gratitude by helping less fortunate students feel
the same happiness.”
The
current building will end a legacy that began in 1913 and the community learning
center will begin a new one in 2008.
At the Mason Community Learning Center, students can expect a colorful and clean
environment with enhanced audio and visual equipment when they start learning at
their new Exchange Street location
The new Mason CLC is designed for 400 students and will quickly become a
community focal point.
Principal Churn, along with the University Park Alliance, are planning a Family
Fair to take place
during the dedication of the new CLC. Representatives from the YMCA, First
Congregational Church, Family TIES and other non-profit groups will gather to
dedicate the building and unite with the community.

The dedication ceremony is taking place Saturday, February 9, at 2 p.m. Parents,
students and community members are urged to join in on the celebration.
“Schools are a reflection of their community,” said Churn. “I want this new CLC
to be a fun and
inviting place to be.”
