The fifth installment of APS Shoutouts! on Tuesday, May 8, honored Maggie Oliver, a teacher at Leggett CLC. Maggie began her career with APS in 2007 after she found her previous career in the business sector to be “unfulfilling.” Maggie provides dedicated service to students with autism at Leggett CLC all while working on her master’s degree, continuing to raise her autistic son and keeping everyone at Leggett CLC in a positive mode. Maggie has a significant amount of knowledge about autism and shares willingly with staff. She wrote articles on the subjects of literacy, comprehension and use of visuals for children with autism. Ms. Oliver spent endless hours making personalized books for her students and fun projects that involve their families. APS Shoutouts! honors APS employees who go above and beyond in their work for the district. APS chooses and surprises winners (a group, department or individual) every other week.
