Superintendent David W. James, Mayor Don Plusquellic, Senator Tom Sawyer, as well as many members of the community, came out to celebrate the dedication of McEbright Community Learning Center, the 22nd CLC to be completed by Akron Public Schools.

LeBron James and the superintendent of Akron Public Schools, David W. James, held a commencement presentation at East Community Learning Center for Wheels for Education. This is an initiative born out of LeBron James' "King for Kids" bike-a-thon and State Farm's "26 Second Campaign" which LeBron also became involved with recently.
Jennings CLC held a Cultural Fair involving the entire school. The fair's goal was to familiarize students with the multitude of cultures that are represented at Jennings CLC. The event included a variety of food samples, henna tatoos and literacy tables where each student could choose a book to take home.
In a follow-up to the presentation the fifth-graders gave about electricity the week before, the Business Advisory Council once again worked with fifth-graders to further explore the uses of electricity in transportation by creating fictional companies in their classes that produced electric cars. Their findings and hard work paid off in an event in which their cars were then pitted against each other in a Race of Champions. Superintendent David W. James and Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic were able to attend this event and certified the winning team.
