Transitioning to Kindergarten

It is that time of the year when we begin to think about kindergarten for our soon-to-be school age children. Akron Public Schools strives to make a pleasant and enjoyable transition from preschool to kindergarten. Going to kindergarten is a huge milestone for students and families. The transition can be emotional and bring about many questions. The transition to school is an important time in your child’s life and education. We seek to create a smooth transition and positive experience for students, families and educators.

Early, frequent communication is essential to ensuring a smooth transition. Our ELP staff is working to provide as many supports as possible for the new and exciting childhood transition. We will be offering  parent meetings for soon-to-be kindergarten families throughout this school year. Our first parent meeting will be Monday, November 30th  . Please keep an eye out for more information regarding this event. Our parent meetings will be a time to learn more about kindergarten, ask questions, voice concerns and learn how you can prepare your child. We look forward to seeing you soon.
