Mrs. Schutte also serves as advisor for East High's DECA chapter.
Through the University of Akron's Tech Prep program, East High Marketing students have the opportunity to earn up to 14 hours of college credit --- all while still in high school. By completing the Marketing curriculum at East, students can "bank" course credit at the University's Summit College.
Marketing students can receive credit for the following University of Akron courses:
- Intro to Computer & Applications Software (3 credit hours)
- Keyboarding for Non-Majors (2 credit hours)
- Essentials of Marketing Technology (3 credit hours)
- Principals of Advertising (3 credit hours)
- Intro to Selling (3 credit hours)

"SPEAKING" OF MARKETING
Two members of the White Pond Toastmasters visited the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period Marketing classes on Oct. 2 to discuss the art of public speaking. The tips learned in these sessions will help the students as they prepare for this year's DECA competitons.
A member of the 2nd period Marketing class practices some of the techniques learned from the Toastmasters.
