Firestone to compete in Academic Challenge finale on June 9

Tune into WEWS Channel 5 Saturday, June 9, to watch students from Firestone High School compete in the Academic Challenge championship round starting at 7:30 p.m. The Firestone team will compete with teams from Beachwood High School and Hawken School of Chesterland.
WEWS Channel 5 TV produces Academic Challenge as a way to spotlight academic excellence. Each week, three teams compete for points by answering questions covering such topics as math, science, history and current events. At the end of each program, the points are totaled; and, at season's end, the three highest scoring teams return for the championship match. Seniors Katherine Gilbert, Bijan Pakdel and Sterling Shriber will represent Firestone. Other team members include Arian Daneshvar, Rowan Matney and Alex Pica.
