The Jean Thomas Lambert scholarship is for the 2013-14 academic year and will cover tuition and related academic expenses to a college or university up to $3,000 per semester, renewable for three years.
Bryant & Stratton College is offering a $1,000 scholarship for Akron Chamber of Commerce members and their employees. The scholarship is renewable each semester. For more information, call the Akron campus at 330.598.2500.
The $450 Summit County Society for Crippled Children and Adults Scholarship award goes to a senior residing in Summit County and receiving the highest score on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) administered by the College Entrance Examination Board prior to May of the current school year. Should two or more students have the same highest score, the award will be divided among those high scorers. The scholarship will be awarded annually for four (4) years. Payments will be made upon evidence of enrollment in the college or university of the winner's choice and will be made on or before August 31 of each year. Counselors or principals may forward a hard copy of the highest scoring senior's SAT score to Dr. Patricia Agble, Coordinator, Testing, Research and Evaluation, 65 Steiner Ave., Akron, Ohio 44301, by May 20, 2013. The Judith A. Resnik Scholarships will be awarded to a young man and a young woman who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in mathematics, science or allied fields. Each scholarship is worth $1,000 per year for four years. Download information about the Student Aid Report (SAR) here.
The Crimson Heights Ministries Scholarship for Community Service is available to APS students with more than two years of active community service/volunteer experience and who attend to pursue a Bachelor's degree.
The GAR Rising to the Occasion Scholarship (up to $5,000) is for eligible students who meet the following qualifications: is enrolled in the African American Male Learning Community; has a minimum 3.0 GPA and ACT of 21; and must reside in Summit, Stark, Portage, Cuyahoga, Medina or Wayne counties. The Housing Authority Insurance Group Scholarship provides residents of member public housing authorities with scholarships to help them attend college. A drawing will be held for a chance at one of 50 scholarships worth $2,500 each.
The Anne K. Petry Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 by Summit Education Partnership Foundation to support one scholarship per year for an Akron Public Schools student who will attend college to study special education. This fund has been placed under the direction of the Akron Community Foundation. This is a one-time, $1,000 award for an APS graduate.
The Mayor’s Emergency Medical Services Scholarship Program will provide scholarships and mentoring to two graduating seniors at each of the Akron public high schools whose goals may include a career as a firefighter/paramedic. A background in math and biology is recommended.

The Richard L. Averitte Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Richard L. Averitte, an APS music teacher for 31 years and the first executive director of the Coming Together Project. Each year, a deserving Akron area senior who has participated in a music program will be selected as the recipient of at least a $500 scholarship to be used toward tuition at a four-year college or institute of his/her choice.
The Esther Simonetti Owen Future Educators Scholarship Fund was established with Akron Community Foundation in honor of Esther Simonetti Owen, a devoted educator for more than 50 years. Scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 a year and are not renewable.
The Coming Together Diversity Scholarship is awarded to a deserving Akron-area senior who has graduated from an Akron public school. The one-time $1,200 scholarship is to be used toward tuition at a four-year college or university of his/her choice.
Two graduating Akron students (one male and one female) will be selected to receive a $1,500 scholarship to The University of Akron for the 2013-14 school year.
The University Park Alliance scholarship is for residents of University Park to attend The University of Akron. The $4,000 scholarship is per year for tuition and fees.
H. Peter Burg AkronReads Book Awards of $500 for the purchase or college textbooks are available to two graduating seniors from each of the following APS high schools: Akron Early College, Buchtel CLC, East CLC, Ellet, Firestone, Garfield, Kenmore and North.
The Acorn Scholarship Fund was established with Akron Community Foundation to provide two annual scholarships to one male and one female graduate of APS pursuing a four-year degree at an accredited college or university. The scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 a year and are renewable for a total of four years.
The Junior Women's Civic Club supports the areas of art, civic, education and health for female students who volunteer, have proven themselves academically and have a financial need. The annual individual scholarship is $2,000, and three scholarships will be awarded this year.
Three (3) non-renewable VFW scholarships are available, in the amount of $2,000 each per year.
The Stark Start Dual Enrollment Scholarship pertains to high school students who are earning college credit(s) while attending high school.
The Leo Lucas scholarship is available to African-American students eligible to graduate from a public high school in 2013, who have a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher, and who have proof of acceptance to an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning with the intention to complete a two-year or four-year degree.
The OMNOVA Solutions Scholarships will be awarded to two graduating seniors from each high school,

This scholarship is open to students who want to pursue a degree in office administration, business administration or business technology and plan to attend an area college in the fall of 2013. Three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to three high school seniors or college students.
The Ohio Housing Authorities Conference Scholarship Committee will offer up to six (6) annual scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each for students enrolling in or attending an accredited college, university, community college, technical school or vocational school.

Snow was the founder of a long-distance trucking company, and this scholarship was named in his honor to promote the professional growth of all persons seeking training and education in the manual skills and trades in Summit County. The scholarship is available only to career education students.
