Akron Digital Academy
Learning in a traditional classroom is not the right choice for everyone. For many, the keyboard has replaced the chalkboard. Akron home-schooling families and high school students not attending traditional classes now have a new choice in education. Akron Digital Academy offers an at-home alternative for individualized and flexible teaching and learning for students in grades K-12.

Akron Digital Academy is a community school of Akron Public Schools. Students learn through state-of-the-art digital curriculum and instruction right in their own homes.

Akron Digital Academy is unique in three ways:

  1. This program focuses on the needs of parents and students in the Akron Public Schools district. It is a program for Akron students by Akron educators.
  2. Unlike many digital academies that claim to provide master teachers, Akron Digital Academy's teachers are actually certified in the subject area they teach. Akron Digital Academy is an extension of Akron Public Schools, offering a standard-based curriculum leading to a high school diploma.
  3. Students wishing to transition back to a traditional classroom may return to Akron Public Schools at any time. Elementary students learn at grade level. High school students earn the necessary credits and pass the tests required to graduate from an Akron Public Schools high school.

For parents who prefer home schooling
There are many styles, patterns and choices in family-based education. Whether you are a family new to home education or a veteran, Akron Digital Academy offers a variety of choices for your home education – tuition free. Akron Digital Academy brings additional resources to your home including K-12 customized curriculum, a computer/fax/scanner and Internet access.

Akron Digital Academy can provide a seamless transition from elementary school to major university programs. All our teachers are certified in their subject areas and are available to meet with you and your child for tutoring, guidance and testing assistance.

For high school students who want to earn a degree
If you are a high school student and earning a high school degree is in your plans but not in your schedule, you will want to learn more about this tuition-free program for Akron Public Schools students. The Akron Digital Academy is a new choice for students who are unable to attend traditional classes, have dropped out of school or just learn better in a non-traditional setting.
