What makes East special?
  • 2006 graduates earned $80,000 in college scholarships.
  • The Marine JROTC ranked second out of 211 schools in the nation.
  • Engineering and robotics won first place in the state VICA competition and competed at the national level. The class won a Young Entrepreneurs award for the Quizmaster Company.
  • East offers quality career education programs with nationally-recognized certification in welding, automotives, hospitality/restaurant management, e-commerce/marketing, information technology-networking, and engineering and robotics. Other programs include tech prep business.
  • "Reality Check" allows students to explore real-world experiences.
  • East is focused on improving writing and higher-order thinking skills.
  • Tutoring is offered during the school day and after school.
  • East High School participates in the "High Schools That Work" program.
  • East students and staff believe in working harder to get smarter.
  • The new East/Goodyear Community Learning Center is under construction.
  • Teachers have an average of 19 years of experience, and 84% hold a master's degree or higher.

History

  • Constructed in 1955
  • Opened in September 1955
  • Addition in 1971
  • The present East High School on Brittain Road opened in September 1955. The school replaced the older East High School facility on Martha Avenue, which is now known as Goodyear Middle School.
