What makes Lincoln special?
- Test scores are on the rise; last year, fourth-grade
writing scores rose 11%, and fifth-grade reading scores
rose 13%.
- All students in grades 1-5 receive
swimming lessons for half the year.
- Students use computers every day and enjoy tutoring,
OPEN M, Title 1, 100 Book
Challenge, AkronReads, Akron After School tutoring and
enrichment programs, IAT services, Pastoral Counseling
Service, and a part-time

History
- Constructed in 1910
- Opened in September 1910
- Addition in 1919
- Named for President Abraham Lincoln (1809-65)
- Lincoln School was named for Abraham Lincoln, 16th
president of the United States (1861-65). Construction
of the school was started in 1909, the 100th anniversary
of Lincoln's birth. The school opened in September 1910.
The original building had 12 rooms including a
kindergarten. In 1919, a major addition provided 12
additional classrooms, a kindergarten room, a
combination auditorium/gymnasium and a swimming pool.
