Akron boasts a teaching staff of nearly 2,000 dedicated professionals with an average of over 16 years in the classroom. Twenty Akron teachers have been awarded the prestigious National Board Certification. Besides recruiting good teachers, we also grow our own through our BECOME (Business Education Collaboration On Minorities in Education) program. Minority students can receive financial aid to pursue an education degree and pay back their financial obligation by working as teachers in the Akron schools.
