Choose Ohio First Scholarship: The Choose Ohio First STEM Scholarship Program provides financial assistance plus additional resources to support your success at UA. UA began the program in 2009 with a grant provided by the State of Ohio, with a goal of producing an additional 800 graduates in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine fields.

Innovation Generation Scholarship (IGS): Students enrolled in Akron Public Schools who apply for admission to The University of Akron are automatically considered for the scholarship. After the Akron Public Schools' Board of Education approves the scholarship candidates, their names are sent to the University. Recipients will be notified of qualification by their school counselor during the spring of their senior year and the scholarship will post to the student account by mid-summer and prior to the fall bill.
Lorraine Dodero STEM Goes Red Scholarship: The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement established the scholarship in 2019, with support from Lorraine Dodero, Executive Trustee of the Sam J. Frankino Foundation. The Lorraine Dodero STEM Goes Red Scholarship aims to bridge the gap between young women’s interest in STEM and their access to career opportunities in these fields.

USDA 1890 National Scholars Program: USDA’s Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE) manages the 1890 National Scholars Program, which is aimed at increasing the number of students from rural and underserved communities who study food, agriculture, natural resource and other related sciences. The scholarship provides recipients with full tuition, fees, books, room and board. Scholars attend one of the 1890 land-grant universities and pursue degrees in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines. The scholarship may also include work experience at USDA.
