Image of Fatherhood MonthSummit County Children Services is celebrating June as Responsible Fatherhood Month and National Reunification Month. Anyone can father a child, but being a dad takes a lifetime. Fathers play a role in every child’s life that cannot be filled by others. Sometimes, however, it is necessary for children to enter the agency’s custody. When this occurs, agency staff actively engage families and diligently work toward reunification. Following are some of the upcoming SCCS events:
  • Touch-a-Truck - June 18 from 1:30-3 p.m. (at AMHA Van Buren, 410 Pasadena Place, Barberton)
  • Special viewing of “Instant Family,” a movie about foster care - June 22 from 1-4 p.m. (West Theatre, 1017 Wooster Road West, Barberton); there is no cost, but registration is required
  • Foster Care & Adoption Information Meeting - June 26 from 6-7:30 p.m. (Maple Valley Branch Library, 1187 Copley Road)
  • Elevate Akron Outdoor Yoga Festival - July 18 from 4:30-9:30 p.m. (Lock 3, 200 S. Main St.)
