Moving Closer to Improved Funding

A bipartisan pair of lawmakers Wednesday introduced legislation to overhaul how Ohio funds public schools. Reps. Bob Cupp, R-Lima, and John Patterson, D-Jefferson, said they updated their original plan unveiled in March to address complaints about overall costs and poor districts not getting enough assistance. The concerns were among the reasons the proposal was not included as intended in the state’s new two-year operating budget, slated to take effect Monday.
