
The City of Akron Fire Department, Akron Fire Local 330 and the Summit County Executive's Office invite all Summit County first responders to a seminar titled "A Candid Discussion on First Responder Mental Health." The seminar will be held November 13 from 6:30-9 p.m. in the Akron-Summit Public Library auditorium, 60 S. High St. The presentation will feature two dynamic speakers who will openly and willingly discuss their personal stories related to mental health issues: Ronald "Jake" Clark, U.S. Army veteran, U.S. Secret Service, Los Angeles Police Department, California Army National Guard, special agent for the FBI, and president and founder of the Save-A-Warrior Foundation; and Lieutenant Matt Olsen, Bolinbrook, Illinois Fire Department, co-founder and executive director of the Illinois Firefighter Peer Support Program. The event is open to all area first responders, dispatchers, private ambulance staff, hospital staff, other health care professionals and adult family members. Parking is free, and refreshments will be served.
