Michael Householder has decided to retire from coaching following a 12-year run as the Firestone boys soccer coach.

Householder guided Firestone’s boys on the pitch from 2008 to 2019 and compiled a 110-75-26 record.

The Falcons went 13-3-2 in 2019, won the City Series championship, defeated Brunswick 2-1 in overtime in a Division I sectional final and lost to nationally ranked Medina 4-0 in a Division I district semifinal.

“Coaching soccer has been something that was brought into my life, and I truthfully enjoyed it very much,” Householder said. ”... We wanted to have winning seasons and be competitive every year.”

Firestone has promoted assistant Liam O’Rourke to be the new Falcons coach. O’Rourke, 28, player soccer for Householder and graduated from Firestone in 2011. O’Rourke earned four letters as a forward-goalkeeper, and has been an assistant to Householder the past five seasons after playing club soccer at the University of Cincinnati and then graduating from Kent State University.
