Kim Shama-Hanna, who has been looking for continued enrichment for her Hyre CLC choir students since learning went online, said she was grateful to be able to turn to Ohio Shakespeare Festival for some special programming Friday via Google Meet.

The choir and drama teacher connected more than 30 of her Hyre sixth- through eighth-graders with Tess Burgler from the professional Akron theater company. Burgler talked about hope and how you can use your voice to audition, have a career, have fun and make a difference.

Shama-Hanna said her singers studying at home could only go so far with sending her videos of themselves singing for online class. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, special events have been canceled for the choirs, including singing at Rhythm at the Zoo June 27.

Also canceled is a trip to Disney World in early October with a choir of 30, which was to include a workshop with a Disney professional and a live stage performance by the choir. Read more here >>.
