APS Coach Leaves Strong Legacy

Yontami Jones made a positive impact in the lives of students and athletes as a teacher and girls' basketball coach at Kenmore and then Kenmore-Garfield for over 25 years.

Jones also touched the lives of coaches in Northeast Ohio and hundreds of athletes who she coached against, too.

Family, friends, faith and basketball were very important to Jones.

So was competition, and it came as no surprise to the people who knew her best that she fought the good fight against cancer in recent years.

Jones passed away on Tuesday after a three-year battle with the disease. She would have turned 50 years old on Dec. 4. Read more here >>.
