Bassist Edgar Meyer, originally slated for March 4, has moved his concert to Tuesday, April 20, so that he can complete his COVID vaccine shots. In Akron, Meyer’s intimate performance will span bluegrass and his own compositions to classical, including Bach’s beloved Cello Suite No. 1.

A cappella choir Chanticleer, originally slated for April 20, has moved its concert to Tuesday, July 27, to give the San Francisco-based singers more time to rehearse together in person.

Tuesday Musical’s 133rd season will now open with superstar pianist Emanuel Ax keeping his original concert date of March 25. Ax has had both vaccine shots and plans an all-Chopin program for Tuesday Musical’s Margaret Baxtresser Annual Piano Concert.

Throughout Ax’s concert, acclaimed concert pianist Caroline Oltmanns will share engaging program insights with the audience. Oltmanns is an International Steinway Artist, Fulbright Scholar, and professor at Youngstown State University.

Also slated this season are Pacifica Quartet with principal clarinetist Anthony McGill of the New York Philharmonic on May 4 and Sphinx Virtuosi, the barrier-breaking ensemble of Black and Latinx musicians drawn from some of the country’s top orchestras, on May 26.

Stringent safety protocols, flexible attendance options and concert cancellation protection are guaranteed for subscribers this season. On sale now at tuesdaymusical.org and 330.761.3460, all subscriptions are $184 for five tickets and valid through next season if a concert is canceled this season or if a subscriber is uncomfortable attending because of health concerns.

With seating at a premium because of social distancing, single-concert tickets will only be sold closer to the concert dates if space is still available.

“We’ve grappled with how, when and even if we could again share the joys of live music during these challenging times,” says Cynthia Snider, executive director of Tuesday Musical.

“Now we’re moving forward — carefully and creatively — so that music lovers can enjoy safe and expertly curated concert experiences.”
