Akron Public Schools radio partner, 91.3 The Summit, has its studios inside Ellet CLC and uses its resources to further education in many ways. Wednesday, between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m., 91.3 The Summit will air poetry readings by students.
The project, created by their English teacher at Ellet, Kristy Nelson, asks students to use their voices to perform a spoken word about a cause they believe in and an organization that seeks to alleviate the problem.
One winner from each semester participated in an interview with The Summit where they got to talk about their cause and organization and perform their spoken word.
The winners are:
Kaylee Johnson (Semester 1)
Topic: Suicide
Organization:
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Alison Kramer (Semester 2)
Topic: Animal Testing
Organization:
Cruelty Free
After the interview, Kristy will post the MP3 and links to their organizations.
Special thanks to Nancy Sinning and Brad Savage at 91.3 The Summit for making this happen for our students and providing an avenue for our students to use their voice to make a difference in the world.
