Congratulations! Your student athlete is a Gatorade State Player of the Year!

Congratulations, your student-athlete Chris Livingston has been named the Gatorade Ohio Boys Basketball Player of the Year and is now part of a 35+ year legacy that includes past winners such as Peyton Manning, Sydney McLaughlin, Mallory Pugh, Karl-Anthony Towns, Elena Delle Donne and many other sports icons!

The Gatorade Player of the Year program is proud to recognize the nation’s most elite high school athletes for not only athletic excellence but also for high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character.

Buchtel CLC can expect to receive the following items within the next month:
  • a banner for you to showcase at your school
  • a trophy to be mailed to your POY's house
  • one Gatorade Sideline Kit containing Gatorade coolers, cups and Gatorade Thirst Quencher powder for your athlete’s team to use (arrives in 2-3 months)

Through the Gatorade Play It Forward initiative, Gatorade will donate $1,000 to a sport-based organization of Chris’s choosing! Your athlete has received an email with details concerning this program.

Gatorade has fueled athletes for a half-century and knows the positive impact sports can have on youth, including improvements in school, health, emotional well-being and future career success. However, youth participation in sports has been on a decline, largely due to a lack of resources and limited access to athletic programs. Gatorade Play It Forward empowers Gatorade Player of the Year athletes to give back to sports programs in their communities to help the next generation reap the benefits of sport.

You can help our efforts by encouraging Chris to make a charity selection! Chris can choose any local sports charity or sport association in your community that provides access to sport for youth athletes. Or, he can pick one of our four national charities to support. All he needs to do is visit by June 18, 2021, and submit an organization. Once an organization is submitted, Chris will also have the opportunity to submit a video to nominate the organization for an additional $10,000 Spotlight Grant.

Thank you for your help and congratulations!
