As part of Akron Public Schools and the Cleveland Browns partnership in the Stay in the Game attendance initiative, we are having week-long activities leading up to the Browns/Steelers game this Sunday.

APS is proud to announce that Brian has been asked to sing the National Anthem at this week's Cleveland Browns game. He has sung it for the Browns twice before in a quartet representing Cleveland Opera, but this is his first time singing as a solo artist.

In addition to teaching music for us, he has been a professional opera singer for the past 35 years. Dawn Wilson, coordinator of music and art for APS, set up the Browns audition for Brian, and the Browns LOVED it.

We’re including Brian’s opera credentials as well and the audition video that got him noticed by the Browns.

As of right now, we don’t know if the anthem will be included in the game’s broadcast, but we certainly hope the folks at CBS see the wisdom in including Brian Johnson! He is a treasure to our community.
