Akron Public Schools and its board held a reception prior to the Dec. 13 meeting to recognize the 12 years of board service of Lisa Mansfield and 10 years invested by Patrick Bravo. Both are past presidents of the board.
Former Superintendent David James was on hand along with current Superintendent Christine Fowler Mack to extend well wishes and kind words. A number of other community and school leaders attended the reception at the Sylvester Small Administration Building.
It was mentioned often that Lisa Mansfield was close with many students over the years, going out of her way to help and mentor them. Often, she would attend events in which they participated. One such student, Madison Dies from Firestone CLC, spoke about Mansfield's investment of her heart in APS students. |
Patrick Bravo was mentioned by Kenmore-Garfield student Elliot Jackson as having made significant contributions to benefit students. Elliot Jackson is a student board representative on the school board this year.

Music at the reception was provided by the Firestone CLC String Ensemble.
Both Mansfield and Bravo addressed the board, formally, at last evening's meeting to reflect on their service to Akron Public Schools students and staff.
