Holiday Message from Superintendent Christine Fowler Mack

Image of APS logoAs our APS staff and students depart for a highly anticipated holiday break, I am heartened by the numerous activities, performances and celebrations of learning that are taking place across the district. They are a reminder to us all of the hard work of our dedicated educators, the support of our caring families and the resilience of our amazing students who are thriving in a world of unprecedented change and challenge.

In my first year as your Superintendent, the approaching holiday provides an opportunity for me to reflect personally on the faith the Akron school community has placed in me to lead our district through these challenges. Maintaining my commitment to listen and learn this year, I have enjoyed getting to know our staff, students and families this semester; and I look forward with optimism to the excitement and anticipation of a new semester and a new year ahead.

While the winter season brings a spirit of joy around the holidays, it also brings heightened awareness of our need for self-care and the need to remain compassionate and empathetic in our interactions with and our care for others. It is in this spirit that I wish each and every one of you a happy, restful and healthy holiday break—one filled with love, joy and hope for the new year.

Sincerely,

Christine Fowler Mack
Superintendent
