Kudos to all students and educators who endeavored in the Age Group Track Program this year. Their cooperation and willingness to be involved in this fitness program for younger students has made it a huge success. APS knows the time with students was well spent and appreciated by both the participants and their families. An event of this magnitude will be cherished by these participants for the rest of their lives. For some, this experience will be unique, for others the stepping stone to greater accomplishments. We had more than 700 spectators on hand to watch more than 300 of our fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students from 24 schools in the fourth- and fifth-grade division and six schools in the sixth-grade division participate in six events at North High School last week. These events offered competition for girls and boys in two field events: standing long jump and the running hop-step-jump. We also had four running events: 170-yard run, 50-yard “stop” sprint, 50-yard “steeple” race and the shuttle relay.
