Eighteen Biomedical Science and five Allied Health students attended the SkillsUSA State Championships in Columbus last week.
The Convention Center was packed with more than 4,500 competitors, representing more than 60 Ohio high schools. (More than 30,000 Ohio high school students are SkillsUSA members, the second largest in the nation.)
In the American Spirit contest, the team of DaVyan Caldwell, Susmita Rai and Sar Ela Be Htoo won the silver medal. They represented three different community service projects created by North students: Valor Home Jars of Inspiration, Recycled School Supplies, and the EpiPens and Anaphylaxis training.
Also, in Medical Math, Ro Zi Mar placed sixth in the state;and Chandra Gajmer placed sixth in the Health Occupations Professional Portfolio contest.
The Community Service team of Hsa Win, Alejandra Trevino and Amari Barnett placed eighth.
Finally, Alejandra Trevino gave a wonderful performance speaking at the 2018 TEDxAkron event last Saturday. Sixteen North students attended the event.
Teacher Kelly Dine summed it all up, saying, "I'm so happy and proud of all of them!!"
