Nick Salladay, of Boy Scout Troop 48 in Ellet, received the rank of Eagle Scout March 22. Salladay, 18, is a senior at the National Inventors Hall of Fame Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics High School.

For his Eagle service project, he coordinated the installation of outdoor lighting in the pavilion at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, the troop’s charter organization in Ellet. He contacted local companies for donations of lights, wiring and hardware, and under his direction Scouts and adult volunteers finished the project in about 60 hours. The completed project is pictured above.

Salladay earned 31 merit badges and two Palm Awards over seven years and is the 14th member of the troop to earn the Eagle Scout rank, according to troop officials.

Salladay is a member of the school’s National Honor Society and plans to attend The University of Akron in the fall to study computer science.
