Child Study

Robert J. Kubick, Jr., Ph.D., NCSP

The department of child study ensures that all APS students have access to a full range of mental health services to help them achieve their best in school, at home, and in life. School psychologists are an essential part of the learning process in helping to identify and assess students for individual and group services, where appropriate. They also assist families in taking a role in their children’s development and work closely with other departments in the school system, as well as community agencies, to fully meet the needs of each child.

School psychologists assist students and staff in the following ways:

  • Behavior intervention plans and testing
  • Crisis intervention and emergency response at school
  • Curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Professional development
  • Research and data
  • Student safety and welfare risk assessment
