Image of Carved PumpkinThe City of Akron's annual celebration of Halloween is Saturday, October 27. City of Akron residents who wish to participate in "Trick or Treat Night" may show their support by turning on their porch lights between 5-7 p.m. that evening. Akron police patrols will pay special attention to children and families who are walking in neighborhoods.

Not everyone does well with Trick or Treat.  Below is an APS-generated resource for some strategies. Occupational Therapist Rosemary Warther (APS) tells us that, because many folks do not analyze stress points of big events such as this in the way a therapist might, she offers this help.

"If I can help one kid or family who has never participated in a community event before like Trick or Treat because they didn't think they could handle it, don't feel safe, or sense too much stimuli; and they read this flier, use a strategy and had a fun time, then HOORAY." (Rosemary Warther)
