Firestone CLC and Akron School for the Arts Theatre Director Mark Zimmerman was happy for his students. After all, a large number of them had earned the privilege of working right beside a legitimate Broadway star (and Firestone alumnus) and share the stage for a well-loved evening of song and dance.

It was a special, one-night-only concert event held last Saturday (February 2) in the Linda B. Kersker Auditorium of the Firestone Community Learning Center.

Firestone's (and Broadway's) Lisa Howard performed selections from her debut album "Songs of Innocence and Experience" as well as Broadway tunes. Lisa was joined on stage by students from both the ETC All-American Youth Show Choir and Firestone CLC's. The concert also featured local favorites Brian Keith Johnson and Scott Shriner.
We thank Lisa, as a portion of the evening's proceeds benefit performing arts scholarships. Serrin Scrutchings, a senior, earned one of the scholarships Lisa contributed Saturday night.

"Performers and technicians both have enjoyed a rare opportunity to collaborate with a Firestone graduate already working at the peak of her profession. More than one student has told me it is an experience they will never forget," Zimmerman said.
