Akron Public Schools Online (APS-Online) learning program is for select students enrolled in the Akron Public School District and students who are currently being homeschooled or are enrolled in a school outside the district (e.g. a charter, private, parochial or non-APS public school).  Some student enrollments may require a recommendation from APS Student Services.

All APS Online students:

  • Receive a Chromebook while enrolled (Grades K-5 also receive a printer/scanner combination).
  • Benefit from quality, online instruction from experienced online teachers, including special education accommodations and supports.
  • Are enrolled in Akron Public Schools and benefit from APS resources.
  • May participate in face-to-face classes and extracurricular activities at their assigned APS neighborhood school.
  • Have access to APS student online technologies.

Grades K-5

  • Students receive learning kits including art activities and projects delivered to their home.
  • Courses are offered in collaboration with nationally acclaimed Lincoln Interactive.

Grades 6-8

  • Students are assigned an APS Online mentor.
  • Courses are offered in collaboration with award-winning EdOptions Academy.
Grades 9-12
  • Students are still eligible for scholarships, career programs, and college partnerships.
  • The student works at his or her own pace, receives flexible scheduling and meets with an APS mentor daily.  Students who demonstrate the ability to work independently and maintain acceptable grades and pacing may attend mentoring less frequently. 
  • Courses are offered in collaboration with award-winning EdOptions Academy.
