APS Event Safety Procedures
The safety of our students, staff, families, and guests is our highest priority. To help provide a safe and welcoming environment at all Akron Public Schools events, the district has implemented event safety procedures that include bag restrictions and security screening for all district events.
Guests are encouraged to review the permitted and prohibited items before arriving. All guests are subject to district security screening procedures, and all permitted bags are subject to inspection.
We appreciate your cooperation and support as we work together to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Permitted Bags
The following bags are permitted:
- Clear bags no larger than 3.3" × 8.3" × 6.5"
- Diaper bags for guests with young children, which are subject to inspection
Bags Not Permitted
The following bags are not permitted at district events:
- Backpacks
- Book bags
- Purses
- Non-transparent bags that do not meet the permitted-bag requirements
Prohibited Items
The following items are prohibited at all District events:
- Firearms, weapons, dangerous ordnance and look-alike weapons
- Knives or other dangerous instruments
- Any item that may pose a safety or security risk
No person may possess or carry a firearm, weapon or dangerous ordinance on District property or at District-sponsored events, except as otherwise authorized by law or Board policy.
The District reserves the right to inspect bags and other personal items and to deny entry to, or remove from the event, any person who fails to comply with District safety and security procedures.
