Child Nutrition Services
Ensuring every APS student is nourished and ready to learn each day.
The Department of Child Nutrition leads the development of balanced, dietitian-approved meals for all APS students, grounded in the simple belief that a hungry child can’t learn. Through the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), every student receives free breakfast and lunch each school day.
Research shows that free breakfast and lunch are known to:
- Boost students’ academic performance, grades, and test scores
- Improve classroom behavior and overall concentration
- Provide healthier food choices than typical packed lunches
- Decrease BMI (Body Mass Index)
Our work ensures every student has consistent access to nutritious meals, helping remove barriers to learning and allowing them to focus throughout the day.
