Legal affairs provides counsel and guidance in all legal matters to the APS board and administrative staff, including:

• technical and legal matters, interpretation of statutes, court decisions, administrative rulings and contracts;
• district representation in administrative investigations and hearings;
• the full range of litigation, labor law, education law, civil rights law, contracting and other legal services on behalf of the school district;
• supervision of revisions of rules and regulations published by the board or the superintendent; and
• management of outside legal counsel
