APS Announces Resignation of Executive Director of IT

Akron Public Schools (APS) today announced the resignation of Zachary Hanshaw, Executive Director of Information Technology, effective February 21, 2025. Mr. Hanshaw has served as the Executive Director of IT for APS, overseeing critical technology functions including end-user technology support, audio/visual services, programming/data services, EMIS reporting and networking/telecommunications. He has been instrumental in leading the IT department and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Known for his inspiring and motivating leadership style, Mr. Hanshaw has prioritized transparency, accountability and the achievement of organizational goals while supporting the personal and professional growth of his team members. His leadership has been invaluable to the district.

Mr. Hanshaw brought extensive experience to APS, holding a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Master of Science in IT Management. His background spans various sectors, including education, law firms and hospitals, providing him with a versatile skill set and a comprehensive understanding of IT systems and management. He is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and a Certified Associate in Project Management, further demonstrating his commitment to excellence. “Zach has been a tremendous asset to Akron Public Schools,” said Dr. Michael Robinson, Superintendent. “His leadership and expertise have been critical to the success of our technology initiatives. We thank him for his dedicated service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Mr. Hanshaw stated, “It has been an honor to lead such a dedicated and hardworking IT team at Akron Public Schools. Their commitment and expertise have been the foundation of our success, and I am incredibly grateful for their efforts and dedication. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I have no doubt that the IT department will continue to thrive under my successor.”

Dr. Stacey Hodoh, Strategic Director of Communications, Media, Community Relations and Outreach will serve as Executive Director of Information Technology on an interim basis as restructuring and reorganization continues. She will continue to serve as the Strategic Director of Communications during this period. As a former enterprise leader, Dr. Hodoh was a global executive in high tech at Google for five years. Prior to this, she was Chief Supply Chain and Technology Officer for a private manufacturing company and also oversaw technology modernization strategies in her role as a global officer for Walmart Stores Inc.
