APS Changes Spring Schedule Due to Eclipse

Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.
For the first time in 200 years, Ohio will be in the path of the total eclipse. The last time the sky went dark in the state was in 1806.
Suffice to say, this is a big deal.
So, Akron Public Schools has decided to add Monday, April 8, 2024, as part of spring break. Students will be off from Friday, March 29-Monday, April 8, and return on Tuesday, April 9. To adjust for this change, APS will be in session Thursday, March 28 (which was initially an Instructional Improvement Day). Instead of having March 28 as an Instructional Improvement Day, that day off will now be Monday, April 8.
