APS Students Compete at DECA State Competion in Columbus

Akron Public Schools students competed at the DECA State Competition in Columbus on March 11-12. Three students qualified for the DECA International Career Development Conference, which will take place in Orlando, Florida, from April 26-30.
- Tapash Bhattarai (Professional Selling Event – Second Place in Ohio) from North High School
- Xyia West and Hunter Lawrence (Buying & Merchandising Team Decision Making – Fifth Place in Ohio) from Firestone CLC
The following students were Top Ten Finalists in the competition:
- Mario Jones & Andre Stone (Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making) from Firestone CLC
- Julia Arriaga (Human Resources Management) from North High School
- Gioibanny Ajanel Santay (Marketing Communications) from North High School
- Tat Ti Zin & Ayusha Subba (Business Solutions Project) from North High School
The students from North High School are members of the Marketing & Entrepreneurship Pathway in the Signet Jewelers Academy of Global Technology and Business. The students from Firestone CLC are members of the Entrepreneurship Pathway in the Kent State University Academy of Design.
